Addiction Programs

When you enroll in a drug and alcohol addiction treatment program, you can opt for a number of different services, therapies and amenities as part of your treatment. Many allow you to pick and choose from what they have to offer and create a personal treatment program, while others limit their offerings, providing you with a singular service or treatment.

Addiction Programs and Services: Detox

Drug and alcohol detox is a service that you may find as the sole focus of a given addiction program or as part of a comprehensive addiction treatment. The physical side of addiction is the center of attention during this program and the goal is to help you minimize your experience of the withdrawal symptoms associated with detox and, if possible, limit the length of the detox as much as possible. It is not recommended that you attempt to quit taking your drug of choice, or detox, without the supervision of medical professionals. A detox facility or a San Diego drug rehab that provides detox will provide the necessary supervision and much more.

Addiction Programs and Services: Psychotherapeutic Treatment

Psychotherapeutic treatment options are offered in both inpatient and outpatient drug rehabs and will vary from center to center. More traditional psychotherapies include talk therapy and behavior therapy and are offered at almost every drug rehab. Holistic drug treatment centers offer alternative therapies as well, each designed to address one or more aspects of drug addiction recovery, including the mental, spiritual and emotional issues.

Addiction Programs and Services: Aftercare

Aftercare services are an essential part of any addiction program. They may include onsite support group meetings for successful graduates of the program, offsite check in via phone or online if you live far away and the most all-inclusive option, sober living. Sober living homes are often attached or on the same premises as your drug and alcohol rehab. Staff members live in the home to provide support, but the daily schedule is much less structured, allowing you to get a job, volunteer and/ or attend 12 step meetings out in the community. The idea is to help you transition back into the community at your own pace and on your time line.
