  • Do you keep using the drug despite awareness of negative health effects and other damaging effects?
  • Have you developed a tolerance for the drug? Do you need more of it to experience the desired effect?
  • Are you disappointed that you don’t get the high you want with an amount that in the past was sufficient?
  • Whenever you stop using the drug, do you experience withdrawal symptoms? If these withdrawal symptoms occur, do you immediately return to drug use for relief?
  • Have you tried to stop but been unable to do so?
  • Do you spend time away from work or family while trying to get the drug? Have you given up hobbies, social activities, trips or other activities due to your use of the drug?

If you can answer “yes” to one or more of these questions, talk to a counselor, doctor or recovery helpline. Recognizing a problem is the first step to finding a solution.
